  1. When You Run

From the recording Bedtime Stories

Lyrics

I dreamt I gazed from the top of a hill to a village down below
I could see beyond a sheet of sky into a world I used to know
Above it all an angel was hovering in space
She was there to pray or maybe guide my way
I raised my hand; I touched her angel face

She stopped my heart from beating; paralyzed my pain
Understood my sigh as she knelt beside me
She was whispering my name; she said

When You Run, you run.
When it’s done, it’s done
Nothin’ stays in place
When it comes, it comes;
When it’s gone it’s gone.
When it’s gone it’s gone away

I was dreaming, I was sleeping in the rain on a warm midsummer night
The air was sweet. I could feel the heat of a burning beam of light
I asked the angel where the road goes. Was she my angel?
Was she my nurse? She smiled at me. She said in terms of destiny
Man, you could’ve done much worse. She said

When You Run, you run.
When it’s done, it’s done
Nothin’ stays in place
When it comes, it comes;
When it’s gone it’s gone.
When it’s gone it’s gone away

Feel every passing moment; Bust it out; Shake it up; Make it pay
Nothing everlasting; Seize the day

I woke up late on a summer morning. I was soaking in my sweat
I could surely feel the dream was real. It just hadn’t happened yet
So I laid in wait all afternoon for the angel to appear
In the sultry warmth of a thunderstorm
She came to me and whispered in my ear, she said

When You Run, you run.
When it’s done, it’s done
Nothin’ stays in place
When it comes, it comes;
When it’s gone it’s gone.
When it’s gone it’s gone away
