Perfect Dream

(Jim Quealy/Gullbergh )

One summer on Long Island / I found the perfect dream
Sandy hair across her eyes smiling back at me
We walked along the water / The moon lit up the bay
When I felt her lips on mine/ She took my breath away

Now that Rendezvous Round Midnight
Still drifts across my mind
I can’t imagine how or why
I left the Perfect Dream behind

It all comes down to moments of love and mystery
Cause she’s the girl who found the man / Inside the boy, in me
Of all my love’s and losses / One that ended far too soon
All began in a blaze of bliss / In a long hard kiss behind the dunes

Now that Rendezvous Round Midnight
Still drifts across my mind
I can’t imagine why
I left the Perfect Dream behind

Her name came up from time to time
As the years kept rolling by
I never saw her face again
But a sweet familiar voice one night
This past July
Called to say goodbye

She wasn’t sure if I’d remember and wanted me to know
The feeling of that first kiss didn’t seem so long ago
Soon she’d be residing where clouds are ankle deep
Now we’ll be reuniting out behind the veil of sleep

When we Rendezvous Round Midnight
At the corner of my mind
In the morning I wake up and leave
The perfect dream behind
